Winter is finally gone, Spring came and went, and Summer is really here!

At long last I'm finally posting another blog entry for all my avid fans... and especially for Mary S who has been asking me when the blog will be updated about every other day for the last 6 months. So, here is an abbreviated survey of what's been blooming, growing, flowing and going on up at Cascade Bluff since the February post showing 7 feet of snow!

When the snow finally melted at the end of May this year, the labyrinth magically reappeared...

...covered in a lovely carpet of spring beauty wildflowers... their delicate fragrance when we walked the path was heavenly!

The view from our ridge lookout is still fabulous in all seasons, and I'm particularly fond of the vibrant green of birch leaves in "early" spring... in this year's case, that meant June...
Record amounts of rain and snowmelt this year meant record high levels of water in all our north shore rivers and streams, including "our own" stretch of the Cascade River... running fast and furious, roaring loudly for months longer than usual...

Visitors from afar began to arrive to celebrate spring, including our dear friend Linda from Arizona... Linda, her partner Daniela and Val got to work in bug shirts to cut down a tree that had fallen across our road... fun was had by all, by the beaming smiles...

Linda, Dani and Val and I went for a hike at famous Oberg Mountain, great views and in search of the elusive black-throated blue warbler... which we heard and MAY have caught a glimpse of.. its butt...

The rock garden started blooming again, though about 1/3rd of my perennials didn't survive through our really long, cold, harsh winter... but as you see, the catmint is thriving!

We threw a bunch of lupine seeds around a few years back and this spring were finally rewarded with a rich field of those lovely purple spikes...
 ...close ups...
 ...purple AND pink...
The woods were wonderful with all sorts of interesting wildflowers and plants...
... and massive growth of lush ferns...
Another peek at the rushing Cascade, from "Alex's Lookout" just off our driveway...
... and a closing shot of a typical sunset for this spring and early summer -- full of clouds! So much rain, broke all sorts of records... meaning that the next blog will be of the full glory of summer at the height of greenest green!

More pix and news to come soon... promise!
