That Was THEN... This Is WINTER, 2013-14!

Winter 2013-14 has been wondrous, amazing, beautiful, and quite honestly, already a little too long! First, the beauty....

That amazing light at the beginning and end of each day...
...the tracks of some brave souls who decided to try to swamp their snowmobiles...

Pretty, isn't it?

...pretty and sparkly...

...that awesome blue sky, so brilliant against the white and green...

...really amazing...

So now let's get to some of the evidence that Old Man Winter is beginning to get carried away this year... Here's the snow line on the workshop after massive snowfalls in Nov, Dec and January...

...and here we are just the other day, mid February... notice how the bottom edges of those windows is starting to disappear?
....We're getting a little tired of opening the door to another white, fluffy discovery...
Here's the view of the north side of our snug abode in December, already looking nice and snowy... Take a close look at the amount of snow on the roof...
...and now... take another look at those roof lines.... Yep, that's more of the white stuff falling...
We had some un-split chunks of wood left at the end of November, and big plans to split them when we had some "nice winter days"...
...another view of the stash of chunks...
Well, we didn't get around to splitting, unfortunately, and then the snow fell... and fell again, and again...
One more time, have a look at that roof line.... gulp!

Look out below!

However, never let it be said that the Bad Girls of the North (ie, us) are going to just stay indoors even when there's a record amount of snow on the ground... no way!
Can't resist... gotta get out there!

Breakin' trail...
Function over style for those sub-zero winter days!
There's that view again... the Cascade River, frozen nearly solid...

All the comforts needed for a long winter night!

Nothing beats roasting your toes in front of the cute little Vermont Castings wood stove... mmm... and just out of camera range we're sitting in our comfy chairs sipping on a bit of that whiskey you saw me carrying under my arm a second ago...
And Rosie definitely loves the wood stove! Rosie, quit hogging the afghan!

We really aren't complaining about winter... we really do love it! And the really fun part is that we get bragging rights over all our friends and family (the wimps) who live in less ridiculous I mean wonderfully appealing climates!
Hurry back, the blog will be updated again VERY soon, with some awesome adventures in wondrous winter!
