Bountiful

It's been a REALLY long time since the last posting on Kathy and Val's New World! But things have been happening up here at Cascade Bluff. Some ribs have been healing, lots of trails have been bushwhacked, and stuff has been growing! Here are some photos of the bounty of the north woods, summer style, as fall is just around the corner!

First, the flowers...

Mmmm! Always room for newly baked bread, a la Cascade Bluff! Cracklin' fresh, just out of the oven!
Oh my, WOW the raspberries were fabulous this year!!

...as were the blueberries! These were a gift from friends who had gathered them up on the Gunflint Trail at a secret special spot known only to the locals and the bears!

Then the 'fruits' of our first year garden! You remember the raised beds we put in this spring, with the big cedar logs and the massive pile of black dirt? Well, look what popped up!

Out of that riot of green, came beans....

....gobs and gobs of cilantro, more beans, and even beets (only two worthy of roasting)...

 ....lettuce....
 ....yellow onions...

...and tons of tomatoes! (Thank you, Loie! Your heirloom tomato plants ROCK!)

Some even got ripe on the vine!  Very tasty!

We've had lots of strange weather, wild clouds and fires... more to come on the next post...
