All Is Calm

One last post for 2009...
We have been so focused on the building and the process of raising it from bedrock, that we sometimes neglect to show you the reasons why we decided to build a cabin in the middle of the north woods in the first place. Here are some images of why we love our New World...that isn't so new after all. In fact, it is very old, and right about now, is very, very peaceful and all is calm.
So we don't totally neglect Bloomington, where we live now, this is a shot of the Christmas Eve snowfall and the urban woods right out our back door...

...our new LED lights...
...and a favorite clay luminaria from Nicaragua...

Our ski, snowshoe and shlepping trail into the land in Feb 2009...

Sunrise over Gitchi Gummi...

Aspens in the slanting sun of a December afternoon...

Ancient looking cedar sisters.... Aren't all cedars kind of witchy looking?
I suppose a few must be wizardy looking...

A view to the east with a sugar maple that looks like it has paused in a dance...

The Cascade River from the Pike Lake Road bridge, in total silence...

Deep winter light over Superior at East Bay in Grand Marais...

...and our cross-country ski tracks, leading toward 2010...

See you all in the New Year and New Decade!
