Racing Mother Nature

Today on the site we had lots of progress... and between snow flurries we contributed to some of the progress! Here are the latest photos of timbers, wonderfully talented guys working on the cabin and the frame and one rockin' Caterpillar....

Here is a box of oak pegs....
...and the holes they'll be placed in, with the mallet ready to go!

Lonnie and Peter working on the second floor, assembling sections of the frame for raising....
The timber in the middle is for the ridge at the top of the roof!

Our Western Larch timbers for the deck...

Forged iron tenons for the bottoms of the deck timbers......and the tenon in place on the bottom of the timber, ready to be placed
on the sonotubes and welded into place.

Lunch break at the New World!
From L to R, Lonnie Dupre, Peter Hendricksen, Tom Healy and Nick Kacures
The Como gas truck arrived in the middle of the morning....

...and he filled our new tank for the first time...

Here is Nick working on staining the ceiling boards, milled from the sides of the Western Larch timbers. We were part of Team Toyota's Lean Team, helping to continuously improve the quality of the process and work so that 170 boards took us about four hours.
Henry Ford and Deming would have been proud...

And here's that rockin' Caterpillar, moving some of the boulders that
hold our retaining wall in place! More tomorrow, weather permitting....
