Onward and Upward

Good Morning from Lake Superior! We're very pleased with our progress!
Here are some recent shots from the construction site and from Grand Marais.

We now have an official address: 556 Cascade Bluffs!
Our timber frame (wrapped up on the left of the truck bed) left Whitefish, Montana and arrived in Grand Marais late in the week, and will be readied for the frame raising on October 12
(weather permitting, we hope!)

Here are a peek at our plans....
And we'd like to introduce the world to our newest carpenter, George!
We found him in pieces on the garage floor...
We have electricity.... or at least solar panels...
...and some batteries to store the electricity we get from the...ahem...sunshine...
Even the SIP panel manufacturers like our address...
Our great contractor, Chris Norman, at work improvising on the spot...

And here is a view of the stairwell, starting to rise up...

Another shot of the stairs...

....More gorgeous maple leaves....

And our favorite rediscovery this week--this majestic pair of old cedars is right at the boundary of our land. We originally found them the first year we owned the property. We named them "The Throne Tree" because you can sit between them like you're sitting on a living throne. But this year we re-named them the "Two Lovers" tree. For those of you who remember our commitment ceremony on Sept 5, 1992, our invitation and program had a drawing of two trees, joined at the base, as a symbol of our lives joined together; and some of you may still have the little tree, probably now an all grown up Colorado Blue Spruce, that we gave to every one of our guests. We're kind of fond of trees, as you can see...

So, we think it is pretty darn wonderful that our New World has this
beautiful living symbol right near our dream cabin!!
