Oh The Weather Outside Is...

The weather outside in Minnesota is, as usual, nothing if not changeable. Here are some pictures from Wednesday Oct 14th at our cabin site....
Pegs in place...

The front porch wall, ready to be raised...

...ready, that is, if only Kathy could be convinced to move 'er bloomin' a..

Even Boogie was at work trying to keep the timbers clear...
Gives a whole new meaning to dog grooming..

And then things really started to get woolly... The guys starting humming, "Gimme Shelter"...

Everything started to look white...

We went for a walk on the ridge, and even though the timber frame preparations had to slow down, we must admit it was beautiful. Christmas in October?
We headed out in driving snow-sleet-whatever...

...and later in the day, just 50 miles down the shore...
The autumn color is still high drama on Hwy 61 near Silver Bay...

The mountain ash are at their peak...

...and we drove up to the top of Palisade Head, and were rewarded
by the spectacular view, as always.

Bottom line is that as of today, our timber frame is not off the ground. Mother Sky is in charge. If the weather turns and the snow, sleet and freezing rain up in Cook County cease, a crane may be up on Cascade Bluffs on Friday to raise the pieces. We, however, are back at Our Other Lives, AKA The Real World (sigh). Stay tuned for more photo ops, 'cause the guys on site have pledged to wield cameras as well as mallets and chisels, and Kathy plans to head north as soon as the last clinic note is done on Friday afternoon. Wish us luck and stay tuned!
